Revised in Dec 2025: from 1 Jan 2026 operators may keep 2G/3G at their own commercial discretion, but legacy use of 800/900 MHz stops from 1 Feb 2026, and the ministry plans to require a dedicated 2G emergency-call network until end-2028. No operator-specific switch-off date or completion found. Kore (May 2026) still shows the superseded dates (31 Dec 2025 to 30 Apr 2026). |
Confidence is high when the operator or the regulator states the date, medium when several independent sources agree, low otherwise. We recheck every month.
What it means for IoT devices on Pelephone
- 2G devices no longer connect to Pelephone. Trackers, alarms and meters that only speak GSM/GPRS need a 4G-based replacement, or a SIM that roams onto another network in Israel still running 2G.
- 3G status unclear. Check on site before relying on Pelephone's 3G network.
- For new devices, choose 4G-based technologies: LTE Cat-1 bis, LTE-M or NB-IoT where the network offers them.
- Foreign SIMs in Israel: permanent roaming of foreign IoT SIMs is allowed. Details on the Israel page.
An M2M.global IoT SIM is not tied to a single network in a country, and its data can reach your cloud without the internet through private delivery.
