Teltonika RUTM50: APN and roaming settings for an IoT SIM

Updated

To use an IoT SIM in the Teltonika RUTM50, open Network > Mobile > General, turn off Auto APN, enter the APN of your SIM, and leave "Deny data roaming" off. A multi-network IoT SIM often connects to partner networks in roaming; a router set to refuse roaming data stays offline with it.

Set the APN

  1. Open the web interface and go to Network > Mobile > General.
  2. Turn off Auto APN: it picks an APN from the router's database by operator and country, which does not know your IoT SIM's APN.
  3. Type the APN shown in your M2M.global account in the APN field (internet APN, or your private APN). Leave user name and password empty unless your account shows them.
  4. Check that Deny data roaming is off.
  5. Save and apply, then read the connection state on the status page.

Reach the router remotely without a public IP

With private delivery, the router gets a private IP address that routes straight to your cloud or office network: you manage it, and the equipment behind it, without port forwarding and without exposing it to the internet. If you need access from anywhere instead, a static public IP is an option.

Networks and shutdowns

The SIM: IoT SIM cards. Typical use: SIM card for 4G and 5G routers.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I set the APN on the Teltonika RUTM50?

In Network > Mobile > General: turn off Auto APN if it is on, then enter your SIM's APN in the APN field. Source: Teltonika wiki.

Why does my IoT SIM not connect in the Teltonika RUTM50?

Check the APN first, then the Deny data roaming option: a multi-network IoT SIM often connects in roaming, and the router refuses data in roaming when this option is on.
