eSIM profile
Updated
An eSIM profile is the set of data and applications that makes an eUICC act as the SIM of one operator: subscriber identity, authentication keys, network settings and SIM applications. Profiles are built in an interoperable format so that they can be installed on eUICCs from different makers.
In practice
An eUICC can store several profiles, but most IoT devices use one at a time. Keeping a second profile from another network as a fallback is a common way to survive an outage or a network shutdown.
