eSIM

eSIM is the common name for a SIM whose operator profile is downloaded remotely into an eUICC rather than delivered on a plastic card. The eUICC itself can be soldered into the device or be a removable card.
In practice
For IoT, the question is less the shape of the SIM than the remote provisioning standard it supports: SGP.32 is the one designed for devices without a screen or a user.
