Home routing (home-routed roaming)
Updated
With home routing, the data of a roaming device is carried back to a gateway in its home network before it reaches its destination. It is the most common roaming architecture for mobile data; 3GPP TS 23.401 and GSMA IR.88 describe it next to local breakout, where data leaves from the visited network.
In practice
Home routing keeps the same private APN, the same IP addresses and the same security rules in every country, at the cost of some extra latency when the device is far from its home network.
