Local breakout
Updated
Local breakout is a roaming architecture where the data of a roaming device leaves through a gateway in the visited network, instead of being carried back to the home network. GSMA IR.88 describes it next to home routing for 4G roaming.
In practice
Local breakout can lower latency, but the traffic then exits in the visited country with an address of the visited network. It does not suit private delivery, which needs the traffic to reach a gateway that knows your private network.
