MME (Mobility Management Entity)
Updated
The MME is the 4G core function that handles device signalling: registration (attach), authentication with the HSS, tracking of the device’s location and paging. It carries no user data. It is defined in 3GPP TS 23.401.
In practice
The power-saving timers that an IoT device requests (PSM and eDRX) are negotiated with the MME, which may grant different values. Always read the values the network actually returns.
