UMTS and HSPA (3G)
Updated
UMTS is the third-generation (3G) mobile standard of 3GPP, in commercial service since the early 2000s; HSPA is its faster packet data evolution. Many operators have already switched it off to reuse its frequencies for 4G and 5G.
In practice
In Europe, 3G has often closed before 2G, because 2G is kept for voice and machine-to-machine traffic. A module that combines 3G with 2G fallback can therefore lose its 3G service first.
