VRF (Virtual Routing and Forwarding)

Updated

A VRF is a separate routing table inside a router, so that several customers’ networks can share the router without seeing each other, even with overlapping addresses. VRFs are the basis of the BGP/MPLS IP VPNs described in RFC 4364.

In practice

Operators use VRFs to keep the traffic of each private APN apart from other customers’ traffic, all the way to the delivery point.
